KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess above average mechanical ability; must have knowledge of power operated tools (air, electric and gasoline); must have thorough knowledge of below ground sewer maintenance and repair (preferably the Lakewood sewer system); must have the ability to do work involving a great deal of physical labor in the form of manual use of digging and other tools and equipment relating to sewer maintenance and repair (work is usually performed in a below ground confined space); must have the ability to work in extremes of cold and heat; must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently throughout the day; must have the ability to work under constant physical demands (i.e., bending, reaching, standing, gripping, extensive use of hands, arms and fingers); must have the ability to work from ladders; frequent climbing and squatting; must have the knowledge and ability to perform brick repair and construction of manholes and catch basins; must possess a working knowledge of safe work practices. May be required to work with chemicals, dust, heat, gas, fumes and pungent odors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision. Good work and attendance record. High school graduate or GED equivalent. Must possess a valid Class B Ohio Commercial Driver's License with less than eight (8) points. Class I Waste Water Collection License must be obtained within 3 years of appointment. Must possess a tanker endorsement within ninety (90) days of appointment. May be required to participate in testing at the discretion of the City. Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination with drug testing and police background investigation.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Normal work hours 7:30am - 3:30pm Employee may be required to work overtime pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 15 of the current negotiated agreement.
