Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic driver for our Daycare to ensure safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for children. This vital role involves transporting children to and from the daycare facility, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations, and providing a positive, nurturing experience during every trip. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a genuine passion for working with children. Your role will be instrumental in creating a secure environment that promotes learning, fun, and trust. Duties Safely operate the vehicle in accordance with traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and school policies. Transport children to and from the daycare facility, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. Assist children with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including wheelchair assistance when needed. Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, conducting regular safety checks and mechanical inspections. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures. Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and children to ensure a positive experience during transit. Manage student behavior with appropriate discipline techniques while fostering a caring environment. Respond quickly to traffic changes or road conditions to ensure safety and punctuality. Adhere to all vehicle codes, heavy lifting protocols, and transportation safety regulations. Provide first aid when necessary and handle minor incidents with professionalism and care. Experience Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation preferred. Knowledge of child behavior management techniques and childcare practices. Valid clean driver's license with passenger endorsement required; experience in school or paratransit driving highly desirable. Strong understanding of traffic laws, state and local commercial driving laws, and transportation safety regulations. Experience working with children is highly valued. Multilingual skills or bilingual abilities are an advantage for serving diverse communities. Mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance is beneficial for ensuring vehicle safety standards are met.
