Job Description

General Description The purpose of this class is to provide assistance to budget team members during daily operations. While, also helping county personnel on budget related inquiries. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Assist in the development of the county's annual budget. Assist in the preparation of the annual Budget Book for submission to the Government Finance Officers Association for the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. Assists in the review of budget submissions for completeness and accuracy. Assists in the preparation of budget amendments. Assists in the review of departmental contracts. Assists in the analysis of accounts for budgetary purposes. Assists in the preparation of financial and statistical reports. Assist in reviewing and compiling performance measures, including workload efficiency and effectiveness measurements, benchmarks and standards. Assists in analyzing department budgets to maintain expenditure controls. Assists departments with questions related to line items, object codes, and funding sources. Monitors spending throughout the year and notifies departments of potential budget issues. Maintains electronic budget files and supporting documentation. Assists with updating position control schedules and salary worksheets. Assists with preparing backup documentation for audits. Researches historical budget data to assist with trend comparisons.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires two years of experience in budget management, auditing, government accounting, general finance operations or closely related experience.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects. The work is typically performed in an office.
