Building Custodian

Position:

Building Custodian Qualifications:

This position performs custodial maintenance duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms. Assists the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the school buildings and campus in a clean and orderly condition so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.

Experience and Certification:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred. General knowledge of building trades preferred.

Maintaining regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Performing related duties consistent with job description and assignment. Exhibit reliability, honesty, and promptness in performing duties and directives. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions. Ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision. Maintenance Supervisor Position Summary:

Work to ensure a safe, clean, and functional learning environment by cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and common areas; sanitizing surfaces; removing waste; performing minor repairs; and setting up for school events. Successfully complete floor maintenance, operate cleaning equipment, secure the building, and respond to maintenance needs

Duties and Responsibilities:

Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing concrete, linoleum, tile, and wood floors. Vacuuming and shampooing rugs and carpets. Cleaning and dusting walls, furniture, woodwork and other equipment. Washing, scrubbing, and disinfecting rest rooms. Moving and rearranging chairs, tables, desks, furniture and other equipment. Performing minor repairs to buildings and fixtures, replacing light bulbs as necessary. Maintaining equipment used in the course of work. Correcting or reporting safety, sanitary and fire hazards. Securing locks on doors and windows of assigned buildings. Monitoring the evening building schedule and allows access to appropriate areas of the building; secures building after evening use. Locking down the building in the event of an emergency (during school hours). Performing routine grounds keeping duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Setting up, taking down, and arranging chairs, tables and related equipment for evening activities; directing visitors. Temporarily performing duties of other custodians in the event of emergency or absence. Directing visitors and safeguarding school property. Develop a schedule for regular cleaning in conjunction with the Maintenance Supervisor. Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

School Year Hours:

3:00pm - 11:30pm (Monday-Friday)

Summer Hours:

6:30am-3:00pm (Monday-Friday)

Terms of Employment:

Specific terms and conditions of employment are governed by the School District of Colfax Employee Handbook and applicable Wisconsin law.

Evaluation:

Employee performance will be evaluated annually by the MS/HS Principal in accordance with applicable school district policy.

Pay:

$18.50 - $22.20 per hour
