Board Membership:
Art for All's Board Members will serve a three-year term and are eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Collective responsibilities of the
Board:
The Board is the leadership body of Art For All (AFA). All Board members have a fiduciary duty to AFA and to satisfy this duty, the efforts of the Board collectively include: Determining and understanding the mission of AFA; Selecting, supporting and evaluating the Director; Strategic and organizational planning (annual and long-term); Fundraising and resource development; Approving and monitoring the organization's programs and services; Approving an annual budget and evaluating the organization's financial performance Advising on operations (events, programs, lease) Engaging in risk management and related issues
Qualifications:
Individual Responsibilities and Roles of Board Members:
Know our mission and programs and understand our impact; Be familiar with and follow bylaws, policies and board resolutions; Meet every other month, except for the months of June, July and August;attend and be engaged in Board meetings, (i.e., understand the agenda, complete pre-reads and be familiar with reports under discussion); this requires attendance and participation in a minimum four (4) planned meetings per year; Contribute to the effective operation of the Board - and work with fellow Board members and staff to assure that the Board functions well. Attend at least (2) fundraising and community outreach events during the year; Read and respond to critical Board and Director/staff communications; Prioritize AFA in annual charitable giving, including capital campaigns, to the best of your personal ability, to demonstrate your commitment to the advancement of AFA's mission); Help support the charitable contributions operation of the organization. Specifically, reach into diverse communities and help identify and cultivate relationships to support the organization as donors, volunteers, and advocates. Agree to step down from Board position if unable to fulfill these expectations Make effort to understand the financial reporting of the organization, to ensure critical financial oversight of the organization; Represent the organization as an ambassador and advocate in the community in a positive way that advances the mission; Engage for a minimum of 5 hours per month in support of AFA's work, which may include Board work, volunteering, and/or participating learning opportunities; Maintain confidentiality of internal matters of the organization.
