Founded in 1917, Emma Norton Services began as a safe and socially acceptable place for young women to live independently while pursuing their educational and professional aspirations. Over time, as societal norms shifted, ENS adapted to address emerging needs. In the 1970s and 1980s, the organization evolved to provide housing and services for groups requiring additional support, eventually focusing on shelter and long-term supportive housing for women in Ramsey County experiencing homelessness. Today, ENS is a $5 million nonprofit organization that provides permanent supportive housing through diverse programs for individuals and families who have experienced homelessness and disabling conditions. ENS serves approximately 300 clients annually, with plans to expand its impact. This growth is driven by a deep commitment to providing safe, affordable housing and personalized support services. Position Title Member of the Board of Directors Position Overview Emma Norton Services is seeking passionate, dedicated individuals to join its Board of Directors as volunteer members. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization that provides transformative housing and support services to individuals and families in need. Board members play a vital role in guiding ENS's strategic direction, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and advocating for the community we serve. We particularly encourage applications from candidates with lived experiences that align with the needs of our clients, including those who identify as BIPOC, have experienced homelessness, substance use, or other traumas, or have benefited from social services. Professional expertise in areas such as finance, governance, development, human resources or related fields are also highly valued. Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate in monthly board meetings, committee work, and organizational events.
• Provide strategic oversight to ensure ENS's programs and services align with its mission and values.
• Advocate for ENS in the community by promoting awareness of its mission and fostering connections with potential supporters.
• Support fundraising efforts, including making an annual financial contribution commensurate with personal capacity.
• Collaborate with fellow board members and ENS leadership to review organizational performance and provide informed governance.
• Bring expertise, insights, and/or lived experiences to the board's discussions and decision-making processes. Qualifications
• A genuine passion for ENS's mission to provide safe and affordable housing and support services to individuals and families in transition.
• Commitment to addressing systemic barriers faced by marginalized communities.
• Willingness to dedicate time and effort to board responsibilities, including preparing for and attending meetings and events.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable but not required: Lived experience with homelessness, substance use, trauma, or reliance on social services. Professional expertise in finance, governance, development, human resources or related fields. Term and Requirements
• Board members serve a renewable term of three years.
• Participation in monthly board meetings and at least one committee.
