Job Description
Monforton School District is seeking an organized, dependable, and collaborative District Clerk to support the Board of Trustees and Superintendent. This is an important part-time administrative and governance position serving a welcoming, student-centered K-8 school community near Four Corners in Bozeman. The District Clerk works closely with district leadership and the Board of Trustees to help ensure Board business is well organized, accurately documented, and completed in accordance with required timelines and procedures. Primary Responsibilities Prepare and organize Board meeting agendas, supporting materials, and meeting packets Coordinate required public notices and meeting postings Attend Board meetings and prepare accurate meeting minutes Maintain permanent Board records and other required District records Track Board actions, resolutions, governance documents, and required follow-up Maintain Board policies and coordinate official filings and records Coordinate and administer school trustee and levy elections Assist the Superintendent and Board with administrative and governance-related needs Help ensure required notices, filings, elections, and other statutory responsibilities are completed accurately and on time Qualifications We are looking for someone with: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Clear and professional written communication skills Ability to manage deadlines and maintain accurate records Good judgment, discretion, and professionalism Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Superintendent, Board members, and other district staff Comfort learning and following established procedures and legal requirements Experience supporting a board, public agency, school district, legal office, administrative office, or election process is helpful but not required. Training and professional development will be provided as needed. Schedule This position averages approximately 18 hours per week. The schedule offers some flexibility but requires attendance at scheduled evening Board meetings. Hours may vary around Board meetings, elections, and statutory deadlines. Compensation $20-22 per hour, depending on experience. Applicants who meet many, but not all, of the preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply. Position open until filled.
