Job Description

Position Summary The Coordinator of Congregational Life at MUUS will design, implement, and lead programs that support spiritual growth and belonging within our congregation. This person will collaborate with the Sunday Service Committee, lay leaders, volunteers, and committees to help foster a vibrant congregational life in line with MUUS's mission and values. We will ask for 3 references after first meeting Our email is: board@MUUSct.org Key Responsibilities Congregational Life & Engagement Collaborate with committee members to design and implement events and activities to foster connection between members; through worship coordination, fellowship, social gatherings, service projects, religious education and small group ministry. Help new families and new members integrate into the life of the congregation. Engage and partner with religious professionals at nearby churches to foster learning and collaboration; including Interfaith Leaders Meeting. With the Board and committee chairs, determine the feasibility for, and assist in the planning of, church-wide engagement opportunities throughout the year. Content, Messaging, and General Marketing/Promotion Engage in clear and timely, multi-channel communication, both internally and externally to inform the congregation and wider community of upcoming programs and events. Assist in the evaluation of program effectiveness (feedback, attendance, etc.) and suggest improvements. Stay abreast of community activities and liaison work with other faith/community groups. Administrative Assistance Work with the Board and committee chairs and appropriate stakeholders to plan for Congregational Life programs. Recruit and train all volunteers to ensure compliance with safe congregation policies. Prepare and present a quarterly board report on Congregational Life (progress report on various duties and project work as assigned). Qualifications Required Current or past experience in a Unitarian Universalist congregation. Willingness to work in alignment with MUUS's values of inclusion, spiritual growth, justice, and compassion. Familiarity and skills working with standard Microsoft and Google productivity suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams/SharePoint, Google Docs, Google Sheets) Strong organizational, communication, and project and task management skills; comfort with administration and scheduling. Flexibility with work hours (weekend and during the week) Preferred Experience in smaller congregations; some background in intergenerational programming, pastoral care and community building. Familiarity with digital tools for communication and marketing (mailing lists, registration platforms, online scheduling) and experience as a content creation and promotional marketing through online/virtual channels. Experience in congregational life, as well as community engagement.
Time Commitment, Reporting & Supervision Hours:
Part‐time, average 15 hours per week Attendance and participation in MUUS's scheduled events, as needed. Attendance at the monthly Board of Trustees Meeting, as needed. Attendance at the yearly Board of Trustees retreat and Annual Meeting Remaining hours may be allocated as needed to achieve the role's stated objectives Work schedule may include weekend activities around Sunday services, preparation and planning during weekdays, monthly committee meetings, and occasional events on evenings or on weekends.
