Summary The Associate Director Strategic Finance and Initiatives, plays a pivotal role in propelling the Innovation & Entrepreneurship organization forward by leading strategic finance efforts, launching high-impact initiatives, and driving cross-functional projects. Acting as a trusted advisor, thought partner, and hands-on operator, this position collaborates closely with senior executives to shape and execute organizational strategies and initiatives. Leveraging deep expertise in healthcare, life sciences, and health technology, the Associate Director delivers management consulting that bridges financial insights with organizational goals. Additionally, this role oversees a team of direct reports, ensuring accountability and measurable outcomes across key initiatives.
Associate Director Strategic Finance and Initiatives Position Highlights:
The Associate Director Strategic Finance and Initiatives, plays a pivotal role in propelling the Innovation & Entrepreneurship organization forward by leading strategic finance efforts, launching high-impact initiatives, and driving cross-functional projects. Acting as a trusted advisor, thought partner, and hands-on operator, this position collaborates closely with senior executives to shape and execute organizational strategies and initiatives. Leveraging deep expertise in healthcare, life sciences, and health technology, the Associate Director delivers management consulting that bridges financial insights with organizational goals. Additionally, this role oversees a team of direct reports, ensuring accountability and measurable outcomes across key initiatives.Select Responsibilities:
Financial & Strategic Leadership:
- Lead finance-related analysis, planning, and reporting for strategic initiatives.
- Partner with executives to evaluate business cases for new investments, partnerships, and innovation opportunities.
- Develop models and frameworks to support long-term strategic and financial planning.
- Lead financial modeling for deal teams on both internal and external IP assets
Strategic Roadmap and Key Initiatives:
- Contribute to and consolidate all elements of the l&E Strategy Plan, inform the allocation of resources and ensure the l&E plan is connected with the Organization's financial forecast and budgeting cycles
- Produce executive presentations and disseminate l&E strategy within the organization
- Oversee high-impact cross-functional projects spanning strategy, technology adoption, and operational improvement.
- Serve as project lead for new initiatives, from ideation through execution, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Responsible for select executive priorities, managing workflows, ensuring accountability, and driving execution.
Executive Support & Communications:
- Prepare board-level and C-suite presentations, synthesizing complex information into clear, actionable insights.
- Drive alignment by coordinating leadership communications and key executive deliverables.
Team Leadership & Management:
- Manage a small, high-performing team providing analytical, operational, and strategic support.
- Develop team capabilities, mentor staff, and foster a collaborative culture of high performance.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree within Business, Life Sciences, Biotechnology or related field.
- Minimum of six (6) years' experience to include the following: ◦ Management consulting in healthcare, life sciences, and health technology ◦ Business case evaluation, strategic modeling ◦ Analyzing and pressing (C-Suite) data driven strategic insights ◦ Strategic Planning, financial forecasts and budgeting ◦ Cross functional team project leadership as well as managing direct reports
- Strong leadership skills
- Highly adaptable, proactive, and able to thrive in dynamic, fast-pace environments.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to build and interpret financial models.
- Effective communicator with solid presentation and interpersonal skills with a high level of integrity, professionalism, and reliability.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and adapt to evolving priorities.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
- Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree, MBA, MPH, MHA within Business, Life Sciences, Biotechnology or related field.
