We are seeking a motivated, capable individual to work directly with senior management in our diverse business operations. This is an opportunity for someone who is organized, computer-savvy, dependable and has good practical judgment to become an important member of a small team where everyone contributes across multiple areas of the business. The position will initially involve assisting senior management with business projects, administrative and financial tasks, tenant and property matters, and day-to-day office operations, while learning the company's commercial property management business. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and receive hands-on training in the various facets of our business, with the potential for advancement into a senior role. This is primarily an office-based position, although occasional visits to our local properties will be required. No business, construction or real estate experience or license is required, and no specific college degree is required. We are more interested in someone with good judgment, initiative, a willingness to learn, strong computer skills, and the ability to take responsibility and get things done. Responsibilities This is a diverse, hands-on position working closely with senior management across the company's real estate and many other business activities. Responsibilities will evolve as the individual develops knowledge and experience, and may include: Assist with the day-to-day management of commercial properties, including tenant relations, vendor coordination, maintenance issues, inspections, lease administration, and property reporting. Work directly with senior management on business projects (other than property management), including research, financial analysis, spreadsheets, presentations, and preparation of reports and other business documents. Assist with real estate and business transactions, including business and/or property acquisitions and dispositions, sales, financing and loan transactions, due diligence, and transaction coordination. Support business consulting and development projects involving financial, operational, and strategic analysis. Assist in monitoring legal and contractual matters, coordinating information with attorneys and other professional advisors, and tracking deadlines and follow-up items. Help analyze and organize financial and operating information relating to properties and other business activities. Communicate with tenants, vendors, lenders, brokers, attorneys, consultants, and other business contacts in a professional manner. Take ownership of assigned projects and follow them through from initial research or request to completion. Provide general support across the office and take on new responsibilities as opportunities arise in a small-business environment where flexibility and initiative are highly valued. Develop the knowledge and judgment necessary to assume increasing responsibility for commercial properties, business operations, and eventually property management responsibilities. Requirements Strong computer skills and comfort learning new software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good common sense and practical problem-solving ability. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions. Professional and courteous manner when dealing with tenants, vendors and business contacts. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Willingness to occasionally visit and work at local properties. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding financial and business information. This is not a traditional administrative or assistant position. The person hired will work directly with senior management and will have the opportunity to learn virtually every aspect of a our businesses. The position is intended to develop into a management role for the right individual.
