Full Job Description Job Overview:
PENNEP is seeking an experienced Lead Business Analyst to join our client's dynamic team. We are seeking a Lead Business Analyst with deep experience in the U.S. power and energy trading industry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of ISO/RTO electricity markets and the complete power trading lifecycle. You will work closely with traders, scheduling teams, settlements, risk management, and IT to improve trading processes, implement system enhancements, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Gather and document business requirements for energy trading initiatives. Analyze and improve end-to-end trading processes, from pre-trade analysis through settlements and reconciliation. Collaborate with trading, scheduling, risk, settlements, and technology teams to deliver system enhancements. Create business requirement documents (BRDs), user stories, process flows, data dictionaries, interface specifications, and acceptance criteria. Support integration with ISO/RTO market systems, including bid submissions, market awards, telemetry, meter data, pricing, and settlement files. Participate in backlog grooming, roadmap planning, and functional design discussions. Develop and execute test plans, coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and validate trade data, pricing, positions, P&L, and settlement calculations.
Required Skills and Experience:
10+ years of Business Analyst experience. ​Strong experience in the Energy Utilities or Power Trading industry. Hands-on knowledge of one or more
U.S. ISO/RTO
markets (PJM, ERCOT, MISO, CAISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, or SPP). Solid understanding of the power trading lifecycle, including: Pre-trade analysis Trade capture​ Day-Ahead and Real-Time Markets (DAM/RTM) Scheduling and nomination. Risk, P&L, and position management Settlements and invoicing Reconciliation and exception handling Experience creating business analysis artifacts and leading UAT. About
