Job Description

Job Description The Department of Police Services, Fiscal Management Section, is searching for a motivated and experienced candidate to fill a Business Officer position. Incumbents perform professional-level fiscal and administrative management support. Incumbents serve as front-line working supervisors. Positions assigned to the Police Department may also assist with grant expenditures. Essential Duties Budget planning, monitoring, analysis, and oversight (operating, technology, revenue, capital) Procurement activities (authorizing/approving purchases, generating purchase orders, confirming goods receipts, processing invoices, identifying the appropriate method of procurement, bid specifications, contract/agreement reviews and routing, etc.) Supervisory functions (performance monitoring, delegation, reviewing work for accuracy and completion, providing feedback, coaching, motivation, and training) Understanding of Gwinnett County Policies and Procedures (including Business Expenditure Policy; Purchasing Ordinance; Purchasing Procedures) and Oracle reporting functions Compiles data, completes audits, and submits various reports Develops training documents/guides and presentation materials Scans, copies, and other similar functions Other Job Requirements/Information Strong adherence to deadlines with demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently Exercise sound and independent judgment, utilizing resources and experience to drive decision making Excellent organization skills and initiative Analytical skills with keen attention to detail, while maintaining a high level of accuracy Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all organizational levels (both orally and in writing) Strong leadership skills, including the ability to promote accountability, monitor work performance, solution-oriented problem-solving, provide guidance and support to staff, and adapt to evolving operational needs Capacity to succeed both independently and collaboratively This job is a civilian position in a public safety department. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background is required to include motor vehicle, criminal histories, and fingerprinting. Grade The grade for this position is C41(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field and Two years of professional level accounting experience or An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
