Job Description

Agency Dept of Public Instruction Division Financial and Business Services Job Classification Title Business Systems Analyst II (NS) Position Number 60091193 Grade NC19 About Us The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education. Description of Work This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on June 1, 2026. • This position is critical to the successful reporting and analysis work done within the Division of School Business. The work provides critical data analysis, reports and other elements required by the State (OSBM) and General Assembly for budget development needs for the State Funds being provided to the Public School Districts. Their work also is responsible for any federal data required for USED and other federal agencies as it may relate to Public Schools data. This group and these key positions are instrumental in many JLOC (General Assembly) reports. These positions are responsible for ensuring successful receipt of data files from the Public Schools, creating reports for the public schools related to their data, and then ensuring that data posts successfully to the Agency financial system (NCFS). These positions provide all levels of critical data analysis as may be required by the department related to many facets of how the Public Schools use their resources. This data is posted through our website, the Highlights documents, the Statistical Profile, and many other mechanisms.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides critical data analysis, reports and other elements required by the State (OSBM) and General Assembly for budget. Responsible for any federal data required for USED and other federal agencies as it may relate to Public Schools data. Responsible for ensuring successful receipt of data files from the Public Schools. Creating reports for the public schools related to their data through the SBS Data Analysis and Reporting Tool, Highlights, Statistical Profile and other mechanisms.
Valid Driver's License Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range:
$67,122.00 - $106,090.00
Management Preferences:
Experience with Tableau, SQL, and Snowflake experience. Experience developing technical requirements for financial projects. Experience working in government, education, or financial settings.

Division:
This division is responsible for the State Public School Fund Budget, the allocations of funding to LEAs and public schools and nonprofits; collecting and accounting for the expenditures; the monitoring and compliance of the use of the funds; the analysis and reporting of the financial, personnel and aggregate student data; the development of the policies related to public school salary, allotments of State and Federal funds and Student accounting. Bachelor's degree from appropriately accredited institution in a discipline related to the area of assignment with three years of programmatic experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
