Job Description

The Opportunity The Admissions & Scholarship team at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management is dedicated to attracting, selecting, and matriculating a highly talented and diverse MBA student population. Reporting to the Director of Admissions Operations, the Admissions Officer plays a key role in supporting the admissions process for Johnson's residential MBA programs through applicant evaluation, candidate interviews, and recommendations to the Admissions Committee. This position also serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students, providing personalized guidance from inquiry through application submission while promoting a thorough understanding of Johnson's programs, admissions requirements, career resources, and student experience. In addition to supporting recruitment and admissions activities, the Admissions Officer coordinates interview logistics, contributes to admissions events and campus visits, and partners with colleagues across the school to deliver an exceptional candidate experience. This is a full-time, three-year term position with the possibility of renewal based on funding, performance, and business needs. Enrollment representatives within Cornell's colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate and partner with the Enrollment Division to accomplish the University's enrollment goals. Key Responsibilities Review and evaluate MBA applications, assessing academic achievement, professional experience, leadership potential, and other admissions criteria. Conduct applicant interviews and provide recommendations to the Admissions Committee to support admissions decisions. Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students, providing personalized guidance throughout the admissions process. Engage with prospective students through phone, email, virtual office hours, and admissions events to support recruitment and application conversion. Coordinate admissions and enrollment processes, including applicant tracking, interview scheduling, and onboarding activities for admitted students. Collaborate with colleagues across the Admissions & Scholarship team and campus partners to support a seamless candidate experience. Support admissions events, information sessions, and other recruitment initiatives. Maintain accurate applicant and student records while ensuring compliance with university policies and data privacy requirements. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least two years of admissions experience. Ability to anticipate applicant needs in alignment with office goals and think critically and creatively about process improvements and application management. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment and decision-making, maintain strong attention to detail, and manage multiple priorities while meeting time-sensitive deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Previous experience using admissions CRMs and technologies such as Salesforce, PeopleSoft, Hobson's ApplyYourself, Linvio, Sumo, and Image Now systems. This is a fixed-term position based in Ithaca, New York, with an initial three-year appointment. The selected candidate will work fully onsite during the initial onboarding and training period, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement thereafter based on business needs and supervisor approval. Core business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the specific schedule determined in collaboration with the supervisor. Renewal beyond the initial three-year term is contingent upon funding availability, business needs, and satisfactory performance.
