$20.00/hr Position Overview The Business Solutions Consultant (BSC) provides one-on-one consulting and technical assistance to entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses seeking to start, stabilize, or grow their operations. This role works directly with business owners to assess needs, deliver strategic guidance, and connect clients to resources that promote sustainable business development across Northwest Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate is client-focused, knowledgeable about small business operations, and passionate about supporting entrepreneurs, including historically disadvantaged and underserved business owners. Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized business counseling to entrepreneurs and small businesses
- Assist clients with business planning, market assessments, strategic planning, and marketing strategies
- Provide guidance on business formation, including entity selection, registrations, and licensing requirements
- Support clients with basic financial management, including cash flow projections and preparation for loan or grant applications
- Advise clients on government contracting opportunities, vendor registration, certifications, and bidding processes
- Connect businesses with local, regional, and state resources, including training, financing, and technical assistance
- Maintain relationships with economic development partners and community organizations
- Conduct client follow-ups to track progress and identify additional support needs
- Ensure access to services for Limited-English-Proficient (LEP) clients through bilingual support or translation services
- Assist with workshops, outreach events, and training programs, including occasional evening or weekend activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR at least two (2) years of experience in business consulting, business development, entrepreneurship support, sales, marketing, or related fields
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and client service skills
- Knowledge of small business operations, financial management, or market trends preferred
- Experience with business planning or small business assistance programs preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
- Valid driver's license, proof of automobile insurance, and reliable transportation required Work Environment This position requires travel to client locations, partner organizations, and training sites throughout Northwest Pennsylvania based on program needs.
