Job Description

The Small Business Development Center is seeking a student to assist the department If you would like more information about the Federal Work-Study program, and/or are interested in working as a Federal Work-Study employee but haven't been offered Federal Work Study as part of your financial aid package for the 2026-2027 aid year, please contact the financial aid and scholarships office before applying for this position . Supporting the business owners in Utah and Wasatch Counties with basic market research, business plan analysis, teaching business skills, and providing information. This position will support the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) advisors and SBDC clients. This position will assist business clients from the community and their interactions with the SBDC. It will also include other duties as needed by the department. Must be a current UVU student and have been awarded Federal Work-Study for 2026-2027 through UVU Financial Aid. Preferred Qualifications A student in the business school. Current or past business owner of small business work experience. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent skills using computers and business-related computer software applications. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Possess an excellent ability to communicate effectively over the phone, in person and in writing. Able to meet and interact with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances. This will include outreach efforts in Utah and Wasatch Counties and cities to promote and foster economic development with individual business owners and community groups. Able to perform a variety of administrative support duties with minimal supervision by following verbal and written procedures and instruction. Must be self-directed, professional, and willing to learn.
