Job Description

Job Description We are seeking a Buyer to support procurement activities for an active construction project in Alaska. This position will be based out of the Anchorage office and will serve as the back-to-back support for an existing Buyer. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple requests in a fast-paced environment. This opportunity is open to candidates with limited experience, including recent graduates. While a background in supply chain, procurement, construction, or oil and gas is preferred, the team is willing to train someone with the right attitude, communication skills, and willingness to learn. The pay rate for this role is between $28-$38 an hour depending on the candidates years of experience.
SCHEDULE
This position follows a rotational back-to-back schedule, which is expected to include:
  • Two weeks working Monday through Saturday, 10-hour days
  • Followed by a four-day, 40-hour work week
  • Approximately eight consecutive days off between rotations
DAY TO DAY
  • Process material and service requisitions by obtaining quotes, issuing purchase orders, and following up with suppliers.
  • Coordinate purchases in accordance with company policies, procedures, and purchasing agreements.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, delivery schedules, material discrepancies, warranty claims, and returns.
  • Track and provide status updates on purchase orders and requisitions to project and site teams.
  • Chair Procurement Status Report (PSR) meetings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays by providing updates on procurement activities and material status.
  • Respond to questions from project stakeholders and construction site personnel regarding ordered materials and services.
  • Review requisitions for completeness and accuracy, gathering additional information when needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and assist with vendor selection based on quality, cost, delivery requirements, and specifications.
  • Identify and escalate procurement risks that could impact project schedules or deliverables.
  • Support process improvements and contribute ideas that enhance procurement efficiency.
