Employment Type Direct Hire Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Buyer I, Indirect Procurement for a leading manufacturing organization serving the aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, and industrial markets. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity in Buena Park, CA for a purchasing professional who will support the organization's day-to-day operations by managing indirect goods and services across multiple internal departments.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Buyer I, Indirect Procurement will support purchasing across a variety of indirect categories, including MRO supplies, facilities and equipment services, IT hardware and software, tooling, shop supplies, subscriptions, and general business needs. This role will partner with internal departments to understand purchasing needs, obtain and compare vendor quotes, issue purchase orders, and ensure products and services are delivered accurately and on time. RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchase indirect goods and services including MRO supplies, facilities and equipment services, IT hardware and software, tooling, shop supplies, consumables, and general business purchases.
Partner with internal departments to clarify purchase requests, specifications, quantities, budgets, approvals, and timing before initiating purchasing activity.
Obtain and compare vendor quotations, evaluating pricing, lead times, terms, and supplier capabilities while making purchasing decisions within established company guidelines.
Create, maintain, and close purchase orders in the ERP system; monitor open orders, expedite deliveries when needed, and keep internal stakeholders informed of order status.
Coordinate supplier setup and onboarding, manage recurring purchases and renewals, and maintain required purchasing documentation in partnership with Finance and internal departments.
Help identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers, improve purchasing efficiency, manage costs, and resolve invoice discrepancies, receiving issues, returns, and other procurement-related challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS
Purchasing, buying, procurement, or supply chain experience, ideally involving indirect procurement, MRO, IT, facilities, services, or other non-production categories.
Experience creating purchase orders and working with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery, order status, and issue resolution.
Working knowledge of ERP or MRP purchasing functions, purchase requisitions, approval workflows, and receiving processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to organize, compare, and track quotes, pricing, orders, and purchasing information.
Strong organization, responsiveness, attention to detail, follow-through, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple requests and supplier relationships.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The anticipated salary range for this position is $52,900-$63,200 annually, depending on qualifications and relevant experience. The comprehensive benefits package may include medical, dental, and vision coverage; company-paid life and AD&D insurance; voluntary benefit options; health and flexible spending accounts; 401(k) with company matching; paid time off; paid holidays; and tuition reimbursement.
