is seeking a senior, hands-on Purchaser to own purchasing for our custom cabinet and architectural millwork operation. You will use deep materials knowledge and independent judgment to guide sourcing, control costs, validate specifications, and ensure production receives the right materials on time. This role connects engineering, production, administration, and suppliers, combining purchasing leadership with hands-on follow-through. Direct experience with custom cabinet manufacturing or architectural woodwork is required. Experience limited to purchasing prefabricated cabinets does not meet this role's requirements. How You Will Make an Impact Own the purchasing function for custom cabinetry and architectural millwork, making informed decisions that balance specifications, quality, cost, and production needs. Review drawings, material takeoffs, and engineering requests to validate material selections, including thicknesses, profiles, surfaces, cores, and hardware. Challenge costly or unsuitable specifications and coordinate alternatives with engineering and production, confirming their impact on fabrication and finished-product quality. Source materials, negotiate pricing, and manage supplier relationships using strong knowledge of industry products and availability. Review purchase orders for accuracy and coordinate approval, processing, and routing with administration. Align purchasing and deliveries with shop schedules, determining what to stock versus order per project while managing inventory, lead times, and backorders. Verify incoming materials against specifications, reject incorrect products when necessary, and resolve supplier discrepancies promptly. Serve as the purchasing decision-maker and communication link between engineering, production, administration, and vendors, maintaining accurate records and following issues through to resolution. Required Qualifications & Experience Minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience directly within custom cabinet or architectural millwork manufacturing. Experience limited to ordering prefabricated cabinets does not meet this requirement. Strong technical judgment to evaluate engineering requests, challenge costly or unsuitable material selections, and recommend alternatives while assessing their impact on fabrication, quality, cost, and project requirements. Knowledge of industry suppliers, product availability, and pricing, with proven negotiation skills and the ability to verify incoming materials against specifications and resolve or reject incorrect deliveries. Experience managing inventory, deciding what to stock versus purchase per project, coordinating lead times with production schedules, and ensuring accurate purchase-order review, routing, processing, and recordkeeping using purchasing or inventory software. A reliable, self-directed leader who can own the full purchasing function with minimal oversight, make sound decisions, prioritize competing deadlines, and communicate effectively across engineering, production, administration, and vendors. Preferred Qualifications & Experience Ability to interpret architectural plans, shop drawings, and project specifications, perform material takeoffs, and apply deep knowledge of wood products, laminates, surfaces, hardware, thicknesses, profiles, substrates, and cores. Previous responsibility for the full purchasing function within a custom cabinet or architectural millwork manufacturing operation. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field. Direct experience with commercial, healthcare, dental, or medical cabinetry projects. Experience using specialized manufacturing ERP software such as INNERGY. Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay with a bi-weekly pay cycle. Comprehensive medical, dental and vision, and life insurance. Generous paid time off including holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Structured paid training program and apprenticeship opportunities for ongoing career development. Company-provided uniforms.
