This role is responsible for procuring raw materials, components, tooling, equipment, and services while ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules and new product development timelines. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, building supplier relationships, solving purchasing challenges, and collaborating across multiple departments. This position also serves as the primary purchasing liaison between our Corona facility and Purchasing team in Tijuana. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Purchasing & Procurement Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components, tooling, equipment, and production supplies. Source materials from domestic and international suppliers. Obtain supplier quotations and evaluate pricing, quality, lead times, and supplier capabilities. Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms within established purchasing authority. Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues involving pricing, shortages, quality concerns, and delivery delays. Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information within the ERP system. Inventory & Materials Planning Monitor inventory levels and purchasing trends to support production requirements. Recommend purchasing actions that maintain material availability while minimizing excess inventory. Identify potential material shortages and coordinate timely purchasing solutions. Collaborate with Production, Warehouse, and Planning teams to support manufacturing schedules. Engineering & Product Development Support Partner with Engineering and R D to source materials for prototypes, engineering changes, and new product development. Coordinate supplier quotations, sample requests, and material deliveries. Support engineering projects by ensuring materials are available to meet project timelines. Recommend alternate sourcing solutions when appropriate. Supplier Management Develop and maintain productive supplier relationships. Evaluate supplier performance and recommend improvements when appropriate. Identify opportunities for cost savings through supplier negotiations and alternate sourcing. Support supplier qualification and vendor development activities. Process Improvement & Technology Recommend improvements to purchasing processes that increase efficiency and support operational objectives. Utilize AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve supplier research, purchasing efficiency, reporting, workflow automation, and document preparation while ensuring appropriate review and validation of AI-generated information. Support ERP enhancements and purchasing data accuracy. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as the primary purchasing contact for the Corona facility. Coordinate purchasing activities with the Purchasing team in Tijuana. Work closely with Engineering, Production, Operations, Warehouse, Quality, and Finance to resolve purchasing challenges. Provide recommendations regarding supplier performance, purchasing priorities, inventory concerns, and material availability. Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience negotiating supplier pricing and delivery schedules. Experience working with ERP systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Experience in automotive aftermarket accessories, automotive interiors, or related manufacturing environments. Experience supporting Engineering or Product Development. Domestic and international sourcing experience. Experience utilizing AI tools or emerging technologies to improve workflow efficiency, reporting, supplier research, or business processes. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Mandarin or Chinese language skills are a plus. Ability to travel to the Tijuana facility, including occasional overnight travel, as business needs require.
