This role exercises buying responsibilities and judgment based on the best value, considering quantity, quality, and service. Communicates and coordinates with all departments, specifically F&B, to understand needs, and anticipate and resolve issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and that purchasing services meet the needs of the organization. Reviews requisitions, contacts vendors, and purchases goods based on agreed upon price, quantity, and quality, ensuring timely procurement of goods at price/value to meet the needs of client departments. Reviews bid for all major purchases to ensure securing the most advantageous deal in relation to price, quantity, quality, service level, and delivery schedule. Researches and communicates with existing and potential vendors to cultivate working relationships and develop most advantageous price and service agreements. Reviews inventory (such as office supplies and certain food items) and places orders to maintain par levels of inventory which best meet users' requirements. Works with vendors to resolve discrepancies, return items, and coordinate delivery schedules to ensure timely delivery of quality product that meets the F&B department needs. Identifies product specifications to obtain pricing. Solicits bids on items from sources of supply to determine a reasonable price, acceptable size, available discounts and shipping and handling charges. Ensures that requests for purchases are properly documented and approved prior to distribution. Evaluates products to determine conformance to product specifications. Maintains and updates vendor contact information, files, and bids. Deals skillfully and tactfully with suppliers. Maintains strict confidentiality of internal activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
