Job Description
Job Summary An established aerospace and defense manufacturing environment in Irvine, CA is seeking an experienced Buyer for a full-time temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a purchasing professional with aerospace or high-tech manufacturing experience who enjoys sourcing critical components, working closely with cross-functional teams, and helping production stay on schedule. The Buyer will support procurement for materials and components used in manufacturing, including electronic components, PCBAs, castings, electromechanical components, machined parts, and outside-process materials. This opportunity offers a collaborative team environment, exposure to technical manufacturing operations, and the potential to convert into a long-term role with a stable organization. Candidates who value teamwork, responsive leadership, clear communication, and a fast-paced production setting will be well aligned with this position. Key Responsibilities
- Source, purchase, and expedite materials and components to support production schedules and customer requirements.
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate supplier bids, negotiate pricing and terms, and issue purchase orders.
- Monitor supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, risk, lead times, and responsiveness.
- Resolve supplier issues involving shortages, delivery delays, pricing discrepancies, quality concerns, and order status.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier data, purchase orders, and material status updates in the ERP system.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Planning, Production, Quality, Customer Service, and Accounting to support manufacturing needs.

$75,000- $80,000 per year. Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage procurement activity for aerospace or high-tech manufacturing materials and components.
- Review MRP reports, BOMs, work orders, stock status, and production schedules to support material availability.
- Negotiate supplier pricing, terms, delivery commitments, and issue resolution.
- Communicate material risks, order delays, supplier concerns, and purchasing updates to internal teams.
- 5+ years of Buyer experience in aerospace, defense, high-tech manufacturing, or a related production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience purchasing electronic components, PCBAs, castings, electromechanical components, machined parts, or outside-process materials.
- Strong knowledge of MRP, BOMs, work orders, material requirements, inventory status, and production planning processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications.
- Strong negotiation, communication, organization, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
- AA/AS degree, BS degree, or equivalent manufacturing purchasing experience. Preferred Qualifications
- Visual ERP experience.
- INFOR experience.
- CPIM or CPM certification.
- Experience working with approved vendors, authorized resellers, manufacturers, and distributors in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
