Full Job Description General Purpose:
The Purchasing Agent plays a critical role in our electrical contracting company by managing the procurement process to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and supplies. This position is responsible for sourcing materials, issuing purchase orders, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, while adhering to company policies.Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the commercial and/or public works electrical construction industry. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; spreadsheet fluency is essential. Strong attention to detail. Ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors at the functional staff level. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Results-oriented, with a focus on achieving goals efficiently. Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels and across diverse cultures. Effective team player. Adaptability in a changing environment.Essential Functions:
Generate accurate and timely purchase orders in accordance with project requirements and company guidelines. Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to maintain and update the preferred vendor list. Obtain counts, BOM take-offs, and material requisitions from site supervisors and project managers for purchase orders. Solicit and review quotes from preferred vendors for each order. Coordinate storage and delivery schedules with vendors to optimize cost-effectiveness and quality. Verify purchase order details, such as quantities, specifications, and delivery dates, to prevent discrepancies. Include Comet Terms and Conditions on major purchase orders. Work closely with the Logistics Coordinator to address material delays, backorders, or issues. Maintain accurate and organized procurement records, including purchase orders, vendor agreements, and correspondence. Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and accounting teams to align procurement efforts with project needs. Participate in purchasing-related projects aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality. Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
