We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator / Purchasing Coordinator to join our office team in Santa Ana. This is an important position within our company. We are looking for someone who understands electrical construction, can accurately estimate projects, is comfortable working with estimating/accounting software, and takes initiative rather than simply waiting for the next task. The right person will work closely with ownership, Project Managers, field personnel, vendors, and our takeoff team to help move projects from estimating through purchasing and construction.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare detailed electrical estimates for residential and commercial projects Review plans, specifications, fixture schedules, and project documents Build and maintain estimates in Sage 100 Contractor Review takeoffs and quantities prepared by our takeoff team Apply labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs Prepare and maintain purchase orders for field materials Obtain and compare vendor pricing and quotations Assist Project Managers and field personnel with material purchasing Track pricing and maintain accurate estimating cost information Review project scope for completeness and identify missing or unclear items Assist with change-order pricing when needed Maintain organized estimating and purchasing records Communicate professionally with vendors, employees, contractors, and customers Help improve our estimating systems and processes as the company continues to grow
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of electrical estimating or related electrical construction experience Strong knowledge of residential and/or commercial electrical construction Experience with Sage 100 Contractor strongly preferred Experience creating and processing purchase orders Ability to read electrical plans, specifications, and schedules Understanding of electrical materials, labor and installation methods Strong computer and Excel skills Organized and detail-oriented Able to manage multiple estimates and priorities Strong written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibility Experience working with electrical suppliers and obtaining material quotations Experience with PlanSwift or similar takeoff software is a plus but not required. $25.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
