Job Description
Senior Buyer Boulder, CO $100,000-$120,000 DOE Schedule Monday-Friday Standard Business Hours We're looking for a strategic procurement professional who enjoys building supplier relationships, supporting new product introductions, and driving supply chain performance. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials, components, and suppliers are aligned with product development schedules, production requirements, cost targets, and quality expectations. You'll work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Project Management teams to support both existing products and new program launches. Why This Role Stands Out Competitive compensation: $100,000-$120,000 DOE High-impact role supporting new product introductions and production operations Significant cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Project teams Opportunity to influence supplier strategy and purchasing processes Involvement in ERP and SAP transition initiatives Blend of tactical purchasing and strategic supply chain responsibilities What You'll Be Doing Source and procure materials to support production and new product introduction programs Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers capable of meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements Request quotations and negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and delivery schedules Analyze supplier quotes and support optimal supplier selection decisions Create and maintain purchasing data, lead times, pricing, and procurement parameters within ERP systems Issue purchase orders and manage open orders to ensure data accuracy and on-time delivery Monitor supplier performance and proactively address shortages, delays, and availability concerns Track shipments and maintain purchase order status information Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams and suppliers regarding technical, quality, and delivery issues Manage inventory levels for assigned commodities and product lines Coordinate the return of non-conforming materials to suppliers Support purchasing process development for new product introductions Act as a subject matter expert during ERP and SAP transition activities Assist with buyer/planner responsibilities as needed during program launches Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, Operations, or related field preferred 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience Strong sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation experience Experience working within MRP and ERP systems Understanding of inventory planning, purchasing, and manufacturing operations Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Advanced Microsoft Office skills with strong Excel proficiency Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to collaborate across departments and diverse teams Ability to travel up to 10% Preferred Experience SAP experience APICS certification New product introduction (NPI) environment experience Low-volume manufacturing experience Defense, aerospace, or optics industry experience ITAR-regulated manufacturing environments Project management experience Supplier development and strategic sourcing initiatives Ideal Background Senior Buyer Strategic Buyer Commodity Manager Supply Chain Specialist Procurement Specialist Purchasing Manager Supply Chain Analyst Materials Manager The Bottom Line This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional who enjoys balancing supplier management, strategic sourcing, and day-to-day purchasing responsibilities.
