Job Description
Join a Growing Manufacturing Team We are a rapidly growing FDA-regulated contract manufacturer of OTC and cosmetic products. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Raw Material Buyer who is highly organized, proactive, and driven by a strong sense of urgency. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring production has the raw materials needed to meet customer demand while building strong supplier relationships and minimizing supply chain risk. Position Summary The Raw Material Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw materials that support production schedules while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and ensuring on-time supplier performance. This role works closely with Planning, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Accounting, R&D, and suppliers to proactively identify risks, resolve supply issues, and support uninterrupted production. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, holding suppliers accountable, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can change quickly. Essential Responsibilities Purchase raw materials to support production schedules and customer demand. Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess inventory. Monitor supplier lead times and communicate risks before they impact production. Expedite critical purchase orders and resolve supplier delays. Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers. Request quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules. Review order acknowledgements for accuracy. Track open purchase orders and provide updates to internal stakeholders. Coordinate with Planning on schedule changes and material priorities. Resolve invoice discrepancies with suppliers and Accounting. Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation. Support supplier qualification activities as needed. Participate in inventory reduction and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Required Minimum 2-3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills High attention to detail Preferred Experience purchasing raw materials Experience in FDA-regulated manufacturing ERP or MRP purchasing experience APICS certification Benefits Health & Dental Insurance 401(k) with Company Match Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Career growth opportunities Schedule Monday-Friday Day Shift Full-Time On-Site Why Us?
