Purchasing Specialist II
Job Description
Summary The Purchasing Specialist II executes and optimizes raw material procurement and inventory planning activities to support continuous manufacturing operations. This role manages purchase orders, monitors supplier performance, and ensures material availability through proactive planning and coordination. The position works cross-functionally with internal teams and domestic, Korean, and other international suppliers to maintain optimal inventory levels, mitigate supply risks, and support production continuity within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a Level II role operating with a high degree of autonomy on complex procurement and inventory matters. Responsibilities Manage and execute purchase orders (POs) to support raw material requirements and production schedules Communicate with domestic, Korean, and other international suppliers across time zones to place, adjust, and manage orders Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and backlog, taking proactive action to resolve delays and constraints Coordinate with suppliers to adjust orders, expedite shipments, and improve delivery performance Identify, assess, and mitigate supply risks to prevent production disruptions Analyze inventory levels, consumption trends, and demand forecasts to maintain optimal material availability Manage inventory health, including excess, aging, and end-of-life (EOL) materials, and implement corrective actions Ensure alignment between procurement activities, production requirements, and inventory strategies Maintain accurate and timely data within ERP, MRP, and WMS systems to support planning and procurement accuracy Resolve complex discrepancies related to purchasing, receiving, invoicing, and supplier payments Generate and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly reports in Korean and English to support decision making and performance tracking Collaborate with Production, Warehouse, Engineering, and Finance teams to improve material flow and operational efficiency Communicate with global stakeholders, including Korean-speaking partners, to coordinate procurement activities and resolve issues Support continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes, inventory control, and supplier performance Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to purchasing and material handling Maintain confidentiality of supplier, pricing, and company information Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container) Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience Experience 3+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or materials planning required Experience with material forecasting, inventory planning, and supplier coordination required Experience working with ERP and MRP systems in a production environment required Manufacturing or industrial environment experience preferred Experience coordinating with international suppliers or global headquarters preferred Sponsorship This position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship, now or in the future. Candidates must possess current, unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Skills Working knowledge of procurement, inventory management, and supply chain principles Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations Ability to identify risks and take proactive action to resolve issues Proficiency in ERP and MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Korean and English bilingual proficiency required, including the ability to prepare and analyze written reports in both languages and coordinate directly with Korean-speaking suppliers and headquarters personnel Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support supplier communication across time zones and month-end or year-end activities Physical Requirements Ability to sit or remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer Ability to use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and office equipment Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and move within office and operational areas Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and move typical office materials, equipment, and material samples Work Environment Primarily office-based environment within a manufacturing facility Frequent use of computer systems, including ERP, MRP, WMS, and procurement reporting tools Regular interaction with domestic and international suppliers, Production, Warehouse, Engineering, Finance, and global headquarters Occasional exposure to production, warehouse, or operational areas requiring adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements May require flexibility to support month-end, year-end, audit-related activities, or supplier coordination across time zones
