Job Description

The position will be working in Burlington, IA with the Champion Ignition organization. Summary We are seeking a Material Specialist / Buyer to join our dynamic team at Champion Ignition. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials essential to our manufacturing processes. Your contributions will play a vital role in ensuring our operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities Utilize system to analyze material requirements to support upstream demand. Accountable for locating vendors who are capable of supplying an acceptable quality product at competitive prices and lead-times. Develop supplier risk mitigiation plan to avoid single source scenario. Place purchase orders, expedite/de-expedite orders as necessary. Analyze and adjust inventory levels (safety stocks; excess/obsolete material). Accountable for maintaining good vendor relations with chosen sources. Have excellent material knowledge and understanding between the parties and reflect good business standards with the highest level of ethics in all dealings with vendors. Manage supply base (vendor performance, open order report, lead time reduction, etc.). Requirements Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Proven experience in procurement or supply chain roles within the automotive industry is a plus. Strong knowledge of materials management and inventory control principles. Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or PLEX is highly desirable. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
