Steel Purchasing Manager Job Overview:
The Steel Procurement Specialist sources, negotiates, and purchases steel materials to support operations, ensuring cost-effective procurement, reliable suppliers, quality compliance, and timely delivery. The role also helps develop phased purchasing and fabrication plans for commercial products while collaborating closely with project management, detailing, and plant leadership. Adhere to

Performance Responsibilities and Areas of Accountability:
Support our Purchasing Manager Develop strong relationships with PDM Vendors Perform material take-offs Commercial Sequence and Lotting Process and manage IC/Commercial sales orders Assist in managing and ordering from 1st tiers suppliers/material Communicate with vendors on issues and hold vendors accountable for services and deliveries. Review drawings redline and resubmit as needed Work with PM's on Seq/Lot strategy and update PM Summary Combine/Nest and order material as needed Submit production packets Provide support with estimating Training and support of EPM functions through all departments Manage Steel shop EPM functionality and quality Coordinate with all departments concerning drawing and detailing information Work closely with Foreman to schedule parts processing Perform inventory investigations
Requirements Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to multi-task Management and Communication Skills required Computer skills (Excel, ERP Systems) Strong problem-solving skills Ability to understand blueprints, scopes of work, purchase orders and invoices.
Education:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED, 2 year degree a plus
Experience:
Experience in steel industry desired, experience procuring, managing vendor agreements, working in a plant environment.
