Job Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our team. This role will be crucial in ensuring that parts needed in our manufacturing processes are ordered to our requirements in a timely and accurate manner meeting our quality standard and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing in a manufacturing environment.

Lake Zurich IL Key Responsibilities:
Placing purchase orders in accordance with weekly reorder requirement reports and parts needed requests from other departments while following product specific procedures Ordering of shop and office supplies and services as requested Follow up on open POs for accurate delivery dates and working with vendors to meet our required date and expediting orders Research and resolving PO and Receiving discrepancies; wrong items, overages, shortages, etc. Ensuring any required documentation is received and saved appropriately Authorizing payments and managing purchasing expenses with meticulous record-keeping Research alternative sources for specific components, including analysis of pricing, delivery, and other tangible supplier benefits Collaborate with various internal teams to ensure smooth purchasing operations Complete New Vendor qualifications and annual supplier evaluations and maintain approved supplier list Other purchasing related tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing purchasing role, preferably in an engineering or custom manufacturing environment. Excellent problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and analytical skills Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks Understanding of inventory turns, order points, and reorder quantity formulas Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with vendors Proficient in manufacturing software and ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite Experience with Epicor and QuickBooks a plus Ability to read engineering drawings a plus Procurement education preferable Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening
