Job Description

The Purchasing Agent creates value for our customers by preparing and processing purchase orders for the procurement of established product lines and commodities, potentially including copper wire, ensuring that branches have inventory available to meet customer expectations. Included here is oversight of the resolution of POs via expediting or revisions, and satisfying internal customer needs with quick, responsive service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Expedite overdue POs via vendor website, emails, or calls. 2. Support department goals to ensure timely and accurate placement of purchase orders and urgent POs. 3. Resolve receiving shortages and shipment errors per supervisor's directions. 4. Collaborate and communicate regularly with sales, receiving, and returns to ensure high levels of customer service and inventory management best-practices. 5. Act as the returns-backup on the purchasing team and respond to customer service inquiries 6. Support maintenance of the returns good queue per supervisor's directions. 7. Expeditiously cancel non-stock orders with vendors for items that are on PO but have been canceled by the customer. 8. Maintain stock service levels within established guidelines. 9. Proficiently utilize the computerized purchasing system to place purchase orders, including urgent POs. 10. Communicate and negotiate with suppliers while acting in the company's best interests. 11. Help to resolve PO discrepancies in a timely manner. 12. Submit and track rebates with utility provider (Ameren/ ComEd), per supervisor's directions. 13. Support resolution of discrepancies in Freshdesk about Blues created by receiving, per Supervisor's directions. 14. Diligently respond to branch expediting needs and procurements. 15. Establish and maintain good vendor relationships and partnership initiatives. 16. Efficiently balance planning, procuring, and controlling various materials and/or services to meet facility requirements with a focus on cost savings, risk mitigation, and logistical needs. 17. Attending annual trade shows and off-site training as needed. 18. To uphold the Core Values of Gordon Electric Supply. 19. Remain current on all required training as mandated by Gordon Electric Supply. 20. Perform other jobs and work-related responsibilities, tasks, and projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Job Competencies Communicating effectively verbally and in writing is comfortable and effective in negotiating with vendors. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy. Demonstrate the ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple priorities. Quick, proficient decisionmaking skills. Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills. Proficient with Excel. Ability to meet short deadlines and work under pressure. Education, Experience, Credentials Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 3 years of business experience with 1 year of purchasing experience required. Valid driver's license required.
