About Our Client:
Our client, a prominent North American manufacturing firm, is looking to hire a Senior Buyer for the office located in Illinois.
Responsibilities:
Analyze market conditions and the company's purchasing needs in relation to our Client's Purchasing strategic objectives and project requirements. Source, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, giving preference to local and U.S.-based sources that meet Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements. Carry out pre-qualification of new suppliers, including assessment of capacity, quality systems, financial stability, and compliance documentation. Participate in developing technical and commercial specifications with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams. Prepare and issue requests for quotation (RFQs) and invitations to tender; analyze the relevance and consistency of offers and recommend award decisions. Negotiate price, lead time, capacity, quality, and payment terms with suppliers and subcontractors, and conclude purchasing contracts and agreements. Purchase raw materials, components, galvanizing and other services, and indirect Capex equipment within approved budgets and negotiated conditions. Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery (OTDP), order acknowledgment rate, and quality performance, and drive corrective actions when targets are not met. Conduct periodic supplier evaluations and maintain the approved supplier list in accordance with Group procedures. Track raw material indexes and market trends to anticipate cost changes and support cost-reduction initiatives. Conduct technical, technological, and market surveys on product ranges and benchmark new products and innovations. Provide purchasing support to project teams and internal stakeholders across all Group departments. Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and purchasing data in the ERP system and related purchasing tools.
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier qualification, and purchasing processes for direct and indirect categories. Proven negotiation skills covering price, lead time, capacity, quality, and contractual terms. Ability to gather and analyze stakeholder needs and translate them into clear specifications and RFQ documents. Understanding of Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements and domestic content sourcing is strongly preferred. Knowledge of industrial manufacturing supply chains, including metals, components, and finishing services such as galvanizing. Strong analytical, data processing, and summarizing skills, with advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP proficiency. Ability to influence and convince internal and external stakeholders while maintaining strong professional relationships. Critical thinking and a continuous improvement mindset. High standard of professional ethics and ability to take responsibility and make sound decisions. #RIMUS
