Buyer - Commodity Sourcing

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Buyer specializing in Commodity Sourcing to join our procurement team. This role is essential in developing and executing sourcing strategies for various commodities, ensuring the organization secures high-quality materials at optimal costs while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in procurement management, supplier management, and contract negotiation to drive supply chain efficiency and support manufacturing operations across diverse categories. This position offers an opportunity to influence procurement processes, foster supplier relationships, and contribute to the company's strategic growth. Responsibilities

MUST HAVE

• 5+ years of experience in a Purchasing / Procurement role
• Understand component specification and blueprint reading
• New vendor sourcing & supplier development experience
• Global vendor/supply chain experience
• Advanced user of Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups)
• SAP experience
• Willing to work OT; Willing to travel (limited)
• Strong communication and leadership skills

DESIRABLE

BS Degree (Engineering, Business or related field); 8+ years of experience; Experience sourcing drive train, powertrain, hydraulics/pneumatics or related components ("parts and service" commodities).

JOB DESCRIPTION

High performing team seeking self-starters, able to hit the ground running. SAP and Excel (think pivots/vlookups/macros etc.) experience is required. Background in procurement, supply chain, purchasing mandatory. Strong preference for relevant experience at a global level. Individuals will manage all tasks/work up to contract signature. Will process/work with large quantities and high value. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and specifications, have logistical knowledge, be able to perform a tech review/quality of product, understand how to navigate for web-based information.

Job duties:

analysis (data science, data analytics), resourcing actions, supplier negotiations, surcharge management, reporting, payment resolutions, WMF (waste minimization fund) mitigations, market test and tech reviews. Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to reduce overall purchasing costs. Collaborate with suppliers to assure the quality of their products, materials, components and/or operations and develop supply recommendations. Ensure suppliers can meet forecasted demand. May coordinate efforts in the reduction of purchasing/engineering costs and establish cost for new products. May participate in design and/or technical reviews. May select, recommend and manage relationships with major suppliers, vendors, or sub-contractors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service. #
