Job Description
Responsibility The Commodity Buyer
- Component Parts is responsible for sourcing and managing purchased components that support a high-volume automotive stamping and robotic manufacturing facility.
Objectives of:
Meeting challenges of changed legal and business environment. Enhancing the trust of ATA among customers, associates, and society. Implementing activities to improve ATA business operations using a strategy of Steady Compliance. Accountable to Purchasing/Logistics Manager Qualifications Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or 3-7 years of purchasing or commodity management in automotive or industrial manufacturing. Experience sourcing component parts such as fasteners, electrical components or fabricated subcomponents or indirect production materials. Experience with computerized ERP systems Experience with Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets/Formulas Strong research and analytical skills Leadership Model proper, respectful and courteous communications with all associates and guests. Follow proper company systems, procedures and protocol. Service Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. Working knowledge of automotive quality standards, ISO 9001/ISP 14001. Familiarity with supplier quality processes. Ability to read technical drawings and understand component specifications. Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Forecast the future needs and demands of customers for business planning. Devise methods of improving procedural efficiencies SupportISO-9001 / ISO-14001
requirements Operations Manage daily purchasing activity for components, aligning orders with MRP and production schedules. Monitor and resolve shortages, working directly with suppliers to expedite critical parts and prevent downtime. Maintain accurate ERP data (lead times, pricing, order status) and ensure timely PO execution and updates. Communicate regularly with suppliers on order acknowledgments, delivery performance, and recovery plans. Communicate with Purchasing and Assembly personnel regarding daily and urgent part needs Support inventory control by balancing stock availability with excess and obsolete risk. Participate in daily operations/shortage meetings and provide clear status updates. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Office and manufacturing floor environment Ability to lift 10-40 lbs. occasionally Perform repetitive movements (bending, reaching, lifting) Automotive production facility with robotic automation Exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial conditions PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots) Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or 3-7 years of purchasing or commodity management in automotive or industrial manufacturing. Experience sourcing component parts such as fasteners, electrical components or fabricated subcomponents or indirect production materials.
