The Project Procurement & Sales Specialist leads the strategic sourcing and procurement efforts for large-scale construction ("mega-project") opportunities across CMC Construction Services. This role exercises independent judgment and discretion in evaluating vendor capabilities, developing competitive pricing strategies, and managing complex, multi-line sourcing initiatives. Partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Estimating leadership, this position plays a critical role in driving project profitability, mitigating supply chain risk, and enabling CMC's growth in high-value construction markets. This position may be based in any of the following locations : Baton Rouge, LA; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; or Austin, TX. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of one of these offices and will be aligned to the location that best supports business needs. What You'll Do Lead end-to-end procurement strategy for project-based sourcing, including RFQs ranging from 5 to 100+ line items, ensuring alignment with project specifications, margin targets, and delivery timelines Analyze and evaluate vendor proposals using independent judgment to assess pricing competitiveness, material availability, lead times, and overall value — making sourcing recommendations that directly impact project profitability Develop and maintain strategic vendor relationships, negotiating favorable terms and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency and supply reliability Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Estimating leadership to influence project execution strategy, advise on material sourcing feasibility, and provide data-driven procurement insights Drive sourcing strategy for national and mega-project initiatives, including early-stage construction opportunities, proactively identifying risks and developing mitigation plans Prioritize and manage competing procurement demands across multiple active projects, exercising discretion in resource allocation and timeline management Identify process improvement opportunities within the procurement function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of sourcing operations Prepare and present procurement analyses and recommendations to internal stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making at the project and leadership level What You'll Need 3+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, estimating, or project coordination within a construction or industrial environment Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating vendors, negotiating terms, and making sourcing decisions Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex, competing priorities Proficiency in vendor coordination, quotation development, and cost analysis Experience supporting large-scale or "mega" construction projects with multi-vendor sourcing requirements preferred Familiarity with RFQ management platforms and procurement systems preferred Your Education High School Diploma or GED required Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and progressive experience We are CMC, a Fortune 500® company at the leading edge of our industry.
