PLEASE NOTE
This position is 100% on-site at our Jessup, Maryland office, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Alliance Material Handling is seeking an experienced Estimator & Procurement Specialist to join our growing Warehouse Solutions team. This role is responsible for developing accurate project estimates, sourcing materials and installation partners, managing procurement activities, and supporting project execution from initial quotation through completion. Serving as a key partner to Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Operations, you will ensure warehouse racking and storage system projects are competitively priced, efficiently sourced, and positioned for successful delivery. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and negotiation skills with experience in construction, industrial, or material handling environments and thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven organization.
What You'll Do:
Estimating & Project Planning Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for warehouse storage, racking, and material handling projects. Review customer requirements, specifications, drawings, and layouts to determine project scope and pricing. Perform quantity takeoffs and material calculations. Develop labor estimates for installation, retrofit, and greenfield projects. Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and scope gaps prior to proposal submission. Partner with Sales to develop competitive pricing strategies and support customer proposals. Design & Technical Collaboration Collaborate with Engineering and CAD teams to ensure estimates align with project designs and specifications. Evaluate the cost impact of design revisions and engineering changes. Support value engineering initiatives to improve project competitiveness while maintaining quality and performance. Verify constructability and recommend cost-effective project solutions. Procurement & Vendor Management Source materials, equipment, subcontractors, and installation partners for warehouse solutions projects. Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations. Issue purchase orders and manage procurement activities throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure purchased materials and services meet quality, specification, and delivery requirements. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to achieve favorable pricing, quality, and delivery performance. Material Planning & Project Support Coordinate material deliveries to align with project schedules and installation sequencing. Monitor supplier lead times and proactively identify potential supply chain risks. Partner with Project Managers to ensure materials are available when required. Track purchase orders, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules. Cost Management Monitor project costs from estimating through procurement and execution. Support Project Managers with pricing for change orders and scope modifications. Analyze estimate-to-actual costs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Maintain accurate procurement documentation and project records.
What You Need:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; equivalent industry experience will be considered. Three (3) or more years of experience in estimating, procurement, purchasing, project controls, or a related role. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, layouts, and technical specifications. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments. Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships. Experience within warehouse solutions, industrial construction, storage systems, racking, or material handling industries. Experience estimating labor and materials for warehouse racking installation projects. Familiarity with retrofit, brownfield, and greenfield construction environments. Experience using ERP, estimating, procurement, or project management software. Knowledge of value engineering, cost optimization, and contract administration. Ability to pass required pre-employment screening.
