Senior Buyer Position Summary The Senior Buyer is responsible for determining priorities, reviewing and analyzing requirements, evaluating, preparing, following up, and expediting all actions necessary to purchase equipment, materials, supplies, and services as required by Medical Center Departments. The Senior Buyer provides exceptional customer service and support to all customers, to include immediate notification of backorders and substitution availability. The Senior Buyer reviews requisitions both electronic and special order with the purpose of obtaining the best pricing available for the Medical Center at all times. The Senior Buyer negotiates pricing and terms and conditions as required by the Purchasing Manager and/or Executive Director of Materials Management. The Senior Buyer suggests alternate sources for equipment, materials, supplies, and services whenever an improved price can be obtained. The Senior Buyer considers and compares price discrepancies against GPO contracts and purchasing history through the MMIS system and on-line services in collaboration with the Contract Administrator. Resolves all price discrepancies according to the Materials Management approved procedure in a timely manner and notifies A/P to expedite payment of invoices when necessary. The Senior Buyer reviews requests for repetitive products with the possibility of attaining volume discounts or moving products to inventory. The Senior Buyer is responsible for coordinating service for the Medical Center's Motor Services/Vehicle fleet, Capital Equipment budget process and participates in Special Projects as needed. Cost savings, product standardization and consolidation are regular goals of the Senior Buyer. Senior Buyer Position Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience 3 years of healthcare purchasing experience or related experience. Understanding of GPO contracts Knowledge of Capital Equipment Acquisition Negotiation Experience Understanding of an Annual Budgeting Process Works with multi disciplinary teams on Construction Projects Valid driver's license and verification of insurability under Peninsula Regional Medical Center's automobile insurance plan. Senior Buyer Work Schedule Primarily day shift, Monday through Friday. Evenings and weekends as required Travel as necessary Expected to respond in the event of a disaster
