This position will work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and operations to ensure products are purchased accurately, competitively, and delivered on time. Responsibilities Process purchase orders and purchase requests for food products and related supplies. Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules. Obtain and compare vendor quotes to support competitive purchasing decisions. Monitor inventory levels and purchasing needs to help maintain appropriate product availability. Track orders from placement through delivery and resolve shortages, delays, or discrepancies. Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, pricing, and product specifications. Assist with sourcing new products and identifying alternate suppliers when needed. Review invoices and purchase orders for accuracy and assist with resolving discrepancies. Work with Operations, Inventory, Sales, Accounting, and other departments to coordinate purchasing requirements. Monitor supplier performance and communicate issues related to quality, pricing, or delivery. Maintain awareness of product costs and assist with identifying cost-saving opportunities. Ensure purchasing activities follow company policies, customer requirements, and applicable food-safety or procurement guidelines. Provide general administrative and analytical support to the procurement team. Qualifications 2+ year of purchasing, procurement, inventory, supply chain, or related experience preferred. Food purchasing or experience working with institutional customers is a plus. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Comfortable working with vendors and communicating professionally. Basic understanding of purchasing, inventory, and order management processes. Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills. Ability to analyze pricing, quantities, and purchasing information accurately. Preferred Experience Food distribution, foodservice, institutional purchasing, or wholesale experience. Experience purchasing products for schools, correctional facilities, hospitals, or other large institutional customers. Experience with an ERP, purchasing, inventory management, or procurement system. Familiarity with vendor negotiations and competitive bidding.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
