Job Description
Integrated procurement Senior Professional Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. life insurance, paid time off United States, Michigan, Superior Township Sep 02, 2026 JOB TITLE Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a Senior Buyer for our Superior Township, MI facility. This position is responsible for leading strategic sourcing and procurement activities that support engineering, research and development (R D), and operational initiatives. The Senior Buyer will manage supplier relationships, lead RFQ processes, negotiate contracts and commercial terms, and drive cost optimization opportunities while ensuring compliance with company policies and procurement standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Engineering, Finance, Legal, HR, and other stakeholders to support business objectives, mitigate supply risks, and deliver value through effective sourcing strategies and supplier management.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead and manage procurement activities, including Purchase Requisitions (PRs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), supplier evaluations, and Purchase Order (PO) issuance.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
Lead RFQ processes, including bidder selection, Scope of Work (SOW) alignment, quotation analysis, supplier evaluation, and award recommendations.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to achieve cost savings and mitigate business risks.
Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities through strategic sourcing, competitive bidding, supplier negotiations, and spend analysis.
Lead supplier sourcing, qualification, selection, onboarding, and performance management activities.
Manage supplier relationships and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, service, and commercial performance.
Source and negotiate agreements for indirect materials, professional services, contractors, and capital equipment.
Review supplier proposals, quotations, and contracts to ensure compliance with company policies, commercial objectives, and contractual requirements.
Partner with Engineering, Finance, Legal, HR, and other stakeholders to support procurement initiatives, project requirements, and business objectives.
Prepare and analyze procurement metrics, supplier performance reports, spend analysis, and cost savings initiatives.
Support procurement audits, compliance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide guidance and mentorship to purchasing team members as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field required or relevant experience.
Related Requirements:
7+ years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management.
Experience negotiating high-value contracts and managing RFQs, competitive bidding, supplier selection, and vendor relationships.
Experience in indirect procurement, contractor sourcing, and capital equipment purchasing.
Experience in automotive, engineering, or research and development (R D) environments preferred
Advanced negotiation, contract management, and strategic sourcing skills.
Strong financial and commercial acumen with cost analysis capabilities.
Proficiency in
SAP, ERP
systems, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Finance, Legal, and other internal stakeholders.
Ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.
