Job Description
Sandstrom's Inc., a leading northern Minnesota wholesale distributor, is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team. As a family-owned company with strong values and a long-standing commitment to customer service, we are looking for a motivated professional who wants to build a long-term career with us. This position plays a critical role in supporting company growth by strategically sourcing products, managing inventory levels, developing vendor programs, and collaborating with sales teams to maximize opportunities with our customers. The ideal candidate will have strong purchasing experience, vendor negotiation skills, inventory management expertise, and a passion for driving profitable growth. Key Responsibilities Purchase wholesale foodservice and retail products to maintain optimal inventory levels. Monitor inventory movement, demand trends, and sales forecasts to minimize out-of-stocks and excess inventory. Coordinate new product introductions and item setup processes. Negotiate pricing, promotional programs, rebates, and other vendor agreements to maximize profitability. Develop and implement sales and marketing programs that support company growth objectives. Sales & Marketing Support Work closely with the sales team to identify growth opportunities and customer needs. Recommend new products, product line expansions, and merchandising opportunities. Analyze product performance and market trends to support purchasing decisions. Assist in developing promotional strategies that drive sales and customer engagement. Qualifications Previous purchasing, procurement, category management, or wholesale distribution experience preferred. Strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills. Knowledge of inventory control principles and forecasting techniques. Experience developing promotional programs and analyzing product performance.
