About the Opportunity Tecumseh Products is seeking an experienced Strategic Procurement Specialist to join its North American Procurement team. This is a critical individual contributor role supporting the company's continued expansion and refresh of products serving the commercial and mobile refrigeration markets. The Strategic Procurement Specialist will take an active role in new product development (NPD), global supplier development, strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, cost reduction, and CAPEX/project procurement. The position will work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, quality, and global procurement teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience sourcing commodities within a global manufacturing supply base, with particular preference for candidates with refrigeration, HVAC, appliance, compressor, electronics, or related industrial manufacturing experience. Key Responsibilities Lead procurement activities supporting new product development, including supplier identification, RFQs, prototype/sample coordination, supplier qualification, PPAP, and handoff to Supply Chain for successful product launches. Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop global suppliers for new and existing commodities. Deliver year-over-year cost savings and support cost-reduction initiatives. Lead and participate in supplier pricing and commercial negotiations. Support sourcing of refrigeration-related commodities, compressor and systems electronics, condensing-unit components, refrigeration-system components, and accessories. Lead complex electronics supplier development and purchasing activities. Source suppliers for CAPEX and project-based purchases, including capital equipment, engineering services, components, and industrial machinery. Conduct comprehensive supplier risk assessments considering production capacity, technical capabilities, financial stability, and commercial terms. Manage supplier RFQs, nominations, Purchase Orders, delivery timing, project costs, and supplier performance. Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and other teams to maintain continuity of supply and support production requirements. Support supplier quality assessments, outsourcing initiatives, process improvements, and procurement best practices. Analyze supplier performance and cost data to make informed sourcing decisions. Ensure sourcing activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and applicable requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field Minimum of 5 years of experience in NPD procurement, supplier development, strategic sourcing, or a related procurement function Experience supporting a manufacturing/production environment Experience working with a global supplier base Strong supplier pricing and negotiation experience Experience with supplier identification, qualification, and risk assessment ERP/MRP system experience required; Oracle experience highly preferred Knowledge of strategic procurement methodologies, including: Cost breakdown/should-cost modeling Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) Strategic sourcing Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, costs, and timelines simultaneously Highly Preferred Experience We are particularly interested in candidates with refrigeration commodities purchasing experience within a global supplier base and experience directly supporting manufacturing operations.

What We're Looking For The successful candidate will be a hands-on, strategic procurement professional who can quickly step into the role and independently manage sourcing initiatives. You should be comfortable identifying new suppliers, negotiating commercial terms, analyzing cost and risk, working with international suppliers, and partnering closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to support both new product launches and existing production. Experience purchasing refrigeration-related commodities from a global supplier base will be especially valuable. The position requires up to 30% domestic and international travel.
