Job Description

This is where you'll excel Manage commodities and competitive sources of supply Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple work assignments using strong organizational skills Negotiate with suppliers on cost, quality, and lead-time to obtain the maximum value for the company Develop, implement, and drive procurement strategies to meet cost savings targets Perform regular performance reviews with key suppliers to drive continuous improvements Ensure commercial, legal, and contractual compliance in all procurement transactions Perform all associated detailed work commensurate with the position, such as: Understand requirements for items to be purchased. Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Prepare and submit purchase orders. Track all orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Contact vendors with discrepancies on quantity and quality to resolve issues. Interface with all departments to resolve issues with purchased items. Manage inventory. Generate monthly forecasts to ensure long lead time material is available when needed, as required. Reconcile billing summaries from main vendors/suppliers, as required. Understand requirements for items to be purchased. Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Prepare and submit purchase orders. Reconcile billing summaries from main vendors/suppliers, as required. Support and provide back-up and assistance to other buyers as needed. Monitor the suppliers; quality/cost/delivery performance on a regular basis. In the event of major disruption which would have significant effect upon delivery, quality or availability, direct necessary actions with the supplier in collaboration with the project managers or design team to reduce the impact. Evaluate the status of all purchased components/materials for active projects to prioritize and communicate issues with the project teams, other buyers, and managers. These are the skills you'll need - Experience in Machining or Fabrication. Ability to read and interpret component part drawings and specifications. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience in an SAP or ERP environment is a plus. High level of intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, ownership, sense of urgency and positive engagement. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (basic skills in Excel and Word)
