Job Description
Role Overview The Strategic Procurement Coordinator is a key member of the Procurement/Purchasing team responsible for both strategic sourcing and buying/planning activities . This role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments including Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain. Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Analysis & Sourcing Interpret engineering designs and concepts to assess manufacturing feasibility and support business objectives Monitor global market conditions impacting supply chain and procurement operations Identify and evaluate new and existing suppliers; source prototypes when required Manage RFQ (Request for Quotation) process and perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis Lead cross-functional reviews to select primary and secondary suppliers Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to achieve optimal total cost Ensure contracts meet legal, ethical, and organizational standards Track and report cost reduction initiatives 2. Supply Chain Management Act as primary point of contact for supplier relationships Monitor supplier performance and mitigate supply risks proactively Use supplier scorecards to improve performance and reduce risk Ensure timely delivery of materials and expedite orders when necessary 3. Buying & Planning Determine material requirements based on engineering and production schedules Maintain inventory at optimal planned levels Identify and manage end-of-life (EOL) material risks with cross-functional teams Coordinate with Finance and Inventory teams to resolve invoice discrepancies Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs) Manage indirect (non-production) procurement spend Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing/procurement within a production/manufacturing environment Proven experience leading cross-functional procurement initiatives Strong analytical skills including: Cost/price modeling Make vs buy analysis Value analysis Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) ROI and cost-benefit analysis Experience developing and executing sourcing strategies that reduce spend Experience tracking global raw material price trends and adjusting sourcing strategy accordingly Experience with plastics and metals procurement preferred
