DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed. Solicit and evaluate proposals for the requested commodity. Investigate and/or interview potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements. Advise team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used. Negotiate the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs. Implement purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations. Assure that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company. Maintain timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records. Develop and implement material schedules to meet sales and material inventory objectives. Contact suppliers to verify deliveries and/or expedite material if required to meet schedules. Maintain database required to execute MRP Planning Runs (lead times, safety stock, P.O. status, order policies, etc.). Control obsolete material to include reviewing potential obsolete material as determined by product changes or engineering changes. Coordinate functional department activities to achieve movement of product in order to maintain adherence to planned manufacturing schedules. Assist sales in developing detail customer delivery dates and ensures adherence to the commitments. Evaluate economic impact of all schedule changes and make recommendations to management concerning alternatives. Coordinate with manufacturing all phases of production to insure the committed schedules can be accomplished. Assist manufacturing in planning load levels in terms of units and manpower. Monitor and report inventory levels by category (Raw, WIP, F/G) on a monthly basis; Monitor and report on SON (Slow Moving, Obsolete, Non-Moving) inventory on a quarterly basis. Coordinate schedules with other departments relative to lead-time required for procurement of materials, services and processes. Supervise and expedite rush orders and materials that are short and revises schedules to offset delays. Acts as a liaison with manufacturing, engineering, and other departments on matters pertaining to schedules, production, methods, materials, and designs to resolve day-to-day problems. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Possess advanced proficiency in one or more software programs including Microsoft Office products and manufacturing software. Possess proficiency in SAP.
