Job Description

Company Overview Based in Youngsville, NC, Sirchie manufactures high-quality forensic science and crime scene investigation products, customized special purpose vehicles, and provides hands-on training for law enforcement, public safety, medical, and education communities around the globe. Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Buyer to join our procurement team. The Buyer purchases materials, equipment, supplies, and services in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures. This position reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions, investigates, and develops sources of supplies, prepares bid specifications, issues bid requests, and reviews quotations. The Buyer interprets purchasing procedures to vendors as a specialist in assigned material categories, which require a degree of technical knowledge. This role requires the use of initiative and independent judgement. Duties Examines and analyzes departmental purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information; contacts department or initiator to clarify or complete information; determines method to process requisition based on dollar amount, timeliness required, existing open contracts, and/or competitive bidding. Identifies and selects vendors to procure requisitioned commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality, and delivery date and then place orders. Interprets and communicates purchasing procedures to departments; assists departments in initiating requisitions and orders. Write and distribute bid invitations or requests for proposals; receives and analyzes bids, quotes, and proposals. Resolves purchasing problems between department and vendor. Comply with all company safety rules and guidelines, and wear PPE if required. This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field and 1 year of buying experience; OR 5 years of buying experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Strong MS Office skills Cost negotiation experience Some MRP experience preferred. Able to work short deadlines in a challenging environment. Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures. Knowledge of materials, products, and the commodity market in area of specialization. Skill in preparing and analyzing complex technical specifications and bids. Skill in both verbal and written communication. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Critical thinking skills. $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
