Job Description

Job Summary:

The Purchasing/Buyer supports manufacturing and turnkey customer programs. This role will manage the procurement of electronic and mechanical components, materials, tooling, outside services, and other requirements while ensuring cost, quality, availability, and delivery align with customer and production needs. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple projects and changing priorities. This is a Full-Time, in-office position offering competitive salary, benefits, and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Procure electronic and mechanical components, materials, consumables, tooling, and outside services to support customer manufacturing programs. Review BOMs, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to develop and execute procurement plans. Obtain and evaluate supplier pricing, availability, lead times, and minimum order quantities. Issue and manage purchase orders, including tracking commitments and maintaining accurate delivery dates. Partner with internal teams to align material availability with customer schedules and production requirements. Manage long-lead, constrained, obsolete, and hard-to-source components; identify alternate sources and sourcing solutions as needed. Proactively identify and communicate material risks that could impact cost, production, or customer delivery schedules. Support turnkey programs from quotation through production by coordinating material requirements, procurement schedules, and supplier commitments. Maintain strong supplier relationships and support supplier qualification and performance in coordination with Quality. Support production shortages, expedites, inventory requirements, and incoming material issues to keep customer programs on schedule.

Qualifications:
US Citizenship:

This role heavily supports defense, aerospace, and the telecommunications industries, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Experience:

2 to 4 years of proven experience working as a Procurement Specialist, Purchasing Agent, or in a similar supply chain role (manufacturing environment preferred).

Technical Skills:

Strong negotiation, data analysis, and communication. High proficiency with ERP software workflows (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and basic Microsoft Excel.

Soft Skills:

Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build strong vendor relationships.

Analytical Mindset:

Strong mathematical and analytical reasoning capabilities to manage budgets and evaluate complex contract proposals.

Data Accuracy:

Proven track record of high-volume data entry with exceptional numerical precision and speed.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline preferred. Certifications (Preferred): Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

The Purchasing/Buyer is expected to perform the following physical requirements daily for up to 8 to 10 hours:

Stationary Position:

The ability to remain in a seated or standing position for extended periods, usually at a workstation.

Manual Dexterity:

Frequent use of computer keyboards, printers and scanners.

Communication:

Clear speaking and active listening abilities are essential for productivity, face to face communication, and safety.

Vision Requirements:

Close vision and ability to adjust focus are needed for continuous computer screen usage.

Mobility:

Occasional walking, bending, or stooping.

Lifting:

Ability to lift, carry, or move objects, typically ranging up to 15 pounds.

Environmental Factors:

Primarily indoor office environments, with moderate noise levels.
