SUMMARY Join a fast-paced purchasing and supply environment where you will manage day-to-day supplier activity, keep material requirements on track, and help ensure purchase orders support production needs efficiently. This role offers hands-on involvement across purchasing, supplier coordination, inventory planning, receiving schedules, and cross-functional problem solving.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage purchase orders from creation and release through supplier confirmation, delivery follow-up, and resolution of past-due orders. Partner with suppliers to address daily issues, pricing discrepancies, documentation needs, quality concerns, and material availability challenges. Review purchasing requirements and buyer exception activity to help align incoming materials with forecasted demand and production priorities. Coordinate with internal teams to communicate shortages, resolve supply concerns, and minimize potential disruption to operations. Develop and adjust receiving schedules based on monthly material requirements, supplier consolidation opportunities, and receiving capacity. Monitor purchasing performance measures and follow up on exceptions or open items that require corrective action. Use ERP/MRP data to identify purchasing or planning concerns and escalate parameter issues when appropriate. Assist with new supplier and item setup, sample coordination, and maintenance of accurate purchasing information within the ERP system. Work with Quality, Accounts Payable, demand planning, and procurement partners to resolve issues involving incoming materials and existing orders. Support special purchasing and supply chain projects as business needs evolve.
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of purchasing, buying, procurement, or related supply chain experience. Associate degree in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain, or a related area preferred. Experience working with purchase orders, suppliers, material requirements, forecasting, and MRP concepts. ERP experience preferred; familiarity with SAP or a comparable purchasing system is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with strong general computer skills. Strong organization, follow-through, communication, and supplier relationship skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to changing demand, and work effectively in a collaborative, fast-moving environment. Experience in a manufacturing, ingredients, chemicals, consumer products, or similar materials-driven industry is helpful.
