Job Description
Senior Buyer / Purchasing Specialist responsible for sourcing custom-manufactured components, managing high-volume purchase orders, and supporting low-volume/high-mix manufacturing requirements. Job Requirements 5-10 years of purchasing experience in a job shop, contract manufacturing, or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environment Experience purchasing sheet metal fabrications Experience purchasing CNC machined parts or similar custom-manufactured components Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Knowledge of GD&T Ability to interpret material specifications and finish requirements Experience using ERP/MRP systems Experience generating and managing a high volume of purchase orders Experience managing multiple open orders with varying production priorities Experience negotiating pricing, lead times, and delivery requirements with suppliers Proficiency with Microsoft Office Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Preferred Skills Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related technical field Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes Experience with laser cutting Experience with punching Experience with bending and forming Experience with welding processes Experience with surface finishing processes Experience sourcing from CNC turning and milling suppliers Knowledge of machining tolerances and manufacturing lead-time drivers Experience supporting prototype manufacturing Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs Job Responsibilities Source sheet metal fabrications, CNC machined parts, and other custom-manufactured components Issue and manage purchase orders within ERP/MRP systems Manage high volumes of open purchase orders and supplier commitments Review engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, material specifications, and finish requirements before sourcing Solicit supplier quotations and evaluate pricing, lead times, and manufacturing capabilities Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers Track supplier deliveries and expedite materials as required Manage supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and lead time Support sourcing requirements for low-volume/high-mix manufacturing Support prototype and NPI procurement activities Coordinate purchasing requirements with engineering, manufacturing, and production planning Maintain purchasing records, supplier information, and order status within ERP/MRP systems Analyze purchasing and supplier data using
