Safety-Sensitive Position Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our manufacturing team in Carson City, NV. This role is responsible for purchasing materials, equipment, and supplies needed to support production while ensuring quality, competitive pricing, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate will have manufacturing purchasing experience, preferably with direct materials such as steel, and the ability to maintain strong supplier relationships. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Organize and direct purchasing activities for materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
Evaluate supplier quotations based on quality, price, delivery schedules, and service.
Source, recruit, and maintain relationships with suppliers that provide high-quality products at competitive prices.
Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices.
Monitor inventory and material requirements to support production demands.
Resolve invoice discrepancies, shipping issues, and delivery concerns with vendors.
Dispatch and print pack lists for outside services.
Coordinate with internal departments to ensure materials are available when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with purchasing and inventory systems.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Experience
2-5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience handling direct materials, specifically steel.
Understanding of supplier lead times and production scheduling.
Experience resolving invoice discrepancies and shipping issues.
Knowledge of machining techniques is preferred.
