Purchasing Agent

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to support day-to-day procurement operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for purchasing raw materials, packaging components, spare parts, services, and supplies, while ensuring inventory levels align with production needs, established targets, and available storage capacity. The ideal candidate is highly organized and analytical, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Production, Materials, and Finance to maintain efficient operations and prevent shortages or excess inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

Place purchase orders based on usage, lead times, and established inventory targets Monitor inventory levels daily and ensure materials are ordered in a timely manner to support production schedules Communicate proactively with Production and Materials teams regarding potential shortages, overages, or delivery delays Track open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery Coordinate with the Materials team to ensure proper receiving, storage, and handling of incoming materials Support inventory accuracy by reviewing discrepancies and assisting with cycle counts and month-end processes Maintain accurate records in the system (AX or equivalent), including order confirmations, pricing, and supplier information Work with Finance to ensure pricing accuracy and support updates when needed Assist in resolving supplier issues, including delays, quality concerns, or incorrect shipments. Ensure all purchasing and material-related transactions are entered and maintained in the system in real time, with a high level of accuracy Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost competitiveness and on-time supply.

Qualifications:

5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience (manufacturing environment preferred) Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred) Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment Highly proactive and self-directed, with the ability to analyze data, forecasts, and historical trends to make informed purchasing decisions

Pay:

$35.00 - $42.00 per hour
